Young Man...gone West, sniff, sniff

Well, John B. L. Soule said it in 1851, and my Hugh Burton did it in 2007! That's right, he really did it, he's gone like the wind! (My heart is broken into a thousand pieces and this morning, I saw a grown man cry, he dad is going to miss him for sure!) The 1851 guys were no doubt looking for adventure, and so is Burt! Not the 'usual stuff' from the 1850's like river crossings and grizzly bears...nope, Burt is looking for SNOW and a lift ticket! He will be working and snowboarding in Park City, Utah for the next few months. We probably will not see him until the end of April when the snow melts and they make him leave! Now, he is in a bit better shape than this poor guy, his Honda, although aged, and weathered, is enclosed. He probably will not have to meet with any Indians, although he would be thrilled to. And, he refused to get a hair cut before leaving, much to my dismay! But at 3:30 am this morning... he left for the West! Destination, Salt Lake City, Utah. 24 hours of driving, 1600 long miles away from this home...it was sad to see him go, but HE was so happy to be going, it was funny! Even I, was laughing (behind my tears) at three o'clock this morning in my drive way as we hugged and kissed goodbye, one more time! Thankfully, there are no women and children to look after...he has two good buddies with him to help drive and keep the entertainment going, and remind him NOT to speed. We have talked to him several times today and he is doing fine tonight. He survived a traffic jam in St. Louis, and by now, he's made it to a Kearney, NE hotel room. He has driven through snow and a little ice, and told me about a Louis and Clark historical sight he enjoyed seeing. Keep him in your prayers as he will be on his way early, around 3am, again tomorrow, and will hit the mountains mid-day. If all goes well, they will be in Salt Lake by the evening. I'll keep everyone posted on his trip progress. (ps- Yes, Da, he checked water and oil before leaving)

Awww. This was very sad to read. Tell him to drive safely, wear his seatbelt, and NO speeding through snow and ice! (That is what I tell E all the time...lol)
